"Playing my parents' records and getting lost in the sounds of the 70s & 80s - that's one of my earliest memories.

Right away I was drawn to MJ's Thriller album & Queen's Greatest Hits. I also fell in love with musicals at a very young age, after being introduced to The Wizard Of Oz, Annie & Cry-Baby. My parents signed me up for piano lessons, dance classes & figure skating.

Very early on, all kinds of music became my life's soundtrack! Singing was what I did in my spare time... I pretty much spent most of the 90s learning lyrics to anything & everything and recording myself singing when no one was around. I finally gave in and wanted to sing in public.

My mom found a few youth singing competitions around town during the summers when I was 15 & 16. Having to provide my own music, we found Karaoke CD's at the local music store. I was always super nervous when practicing at home with only my parents as my audience, but that all went away as soon as I was up on stage in front of a welcoming audience!

I gave all that up for awhile to focus on school & then moved to Ottawa for university. I finally had my first real karaoke experience while vacationing in Orlando when I was 25. I sang Pink's Get the Party Started with the house band and my mind was blown! I couldn't believe how awesome it felt!

A couple of years later, I headed out to one of Dog & Pony's karaoke nights for my birthday. It was a lot of fun! Unfortunately not a lot of my friends were interested in karaoke, so I didn't go back for awhile.

I decided to try birthday karaoke again & went out to 2 Dog & Pony shows that week! I was hooked! I loved seeing the smiles plastered on everyone's faces and the encouragement every singer received. It was so much fun for everyone! I knew right away that I wanted to be part of the magic."
