NEW FEATURES

Now all of the registered users on our message forum can enjoy their own personal BLOG hosted on our site FREE.

I'd like to encourage all our members to put a little something together (profile, interests, a few musings, stuff that you'd like to share). As ours is essentially a community that actually meets in the real world.

The forum and blogs help to break the ice with people who you regularily see on the periphery but haven't yet gotten to know (or might not have previously known that you'd like to get to know better).

So take a wee bit of time and put a small blog together, maybe copy an entry or two from one of your other blogs here to save you the time.

We'd love to hear and see from you.

Adding your birthday to the
Calendar is easy. Simply add your birthday to your profile when you join the forum and it will automatically appear on the calendar each year.

You can also add special events such as your birthday party. Let us all know where and when you will be celebrating.

The forum is a great way to get to know the people you see at many of the shows. It is also the 1st place to learn about special events, parties, newest songs and what's happening in the community. Keep up on the latest news, weather & sports...uh...songs, shows & events.

Drop us a line when you register so we can give you access to the special areas for our local singers ...

DOG & PONY PALS

Beth (our lil' Goose) gave birth to a beautiful baby girl thus making her The Official Mother Goose on Monday February 6th. Congratulations to Beth and to the new parents to whom Beth has given the gift of an open adoption.

Another happy couple has been busy busy busy planning their upcoming nuptials...

Trisha & Dave will be sailing off into the sunset on April the 25th. Literally. They are getting married on a boat with the after nuptuals celebrations at Swizzles!

Gabriel Wynne-Jones
(our lil' Piglett)

Tragically on March 7, 2005
, as the result of a car accident, Gabe was taken from us all at the tender age of 22. His memory and his spirit live on.

Dedicate your joyful sounds in his honor
on Tuesday, March 7th.

Dan Poirier passed away suddenly on Jan. 8, 2006 of a heart attack. He was only 39 years old. Born Dec.18, 1966, Dan grew up in Glen Robertson, outside of Ottawa. He moved to Ottawa many years ago graced us with his joyful, happy presence for many years. He will be missed by all who had the good fortune to know him.

DOG & PONY's Kibbles 'n Bits

Introducing the Sennheiser Evolution Microphone
(now the "blue" mic is all systems...

This is a quality Pro microphone with optimized response for close vocal work, powerful sound with a presence boost for improved projection, cardiod pickup pattern which resists feedback and a fulll metal construction with an internal shock mount.
The Sennheiser sports a durable Humbucking Coil which reduces electrical noise. This mic has INTENSE output, with a 40-16 KHz frequency response and high sensitivity. It makes for an awesome vocal stage mic as it's designed to perform under pressure. Its uniform frequency pick-up pattern maintains signal quality when moving on and off axis during performance and has a gentle presence boost to even tonal response which ensures clarity and projection requiring minimal proximity.

Or...in other words...a pretty darn nifty mic! We know you'll love it!

PAL STORIES

Pal's Personal Stories: Rasta Reminisces

While working outside Halifax, NS as Club DJ in 1994, the Owner announced to the crowd, that *I* would be running some Karaoke shortly (they had just added a Karaoke system to the club). I resounded "NO, I am a DJ, not a Karaoke Host... I don't do Karaoke!!" He quickly put his hand over the microphone, and said "Who Pays You?", and sheepishly, I said "You Do" and he went right back to announcing the start of the Karaoke Show (with me hosting it). I didn't want to be the host, to start singing myself until the requests came in. I don't mind when I have a belly full of Black Rum, but not working a show!

Times change, my own "Dancetime DJ Services" grew to include Karaoke as well as being a Dance DJ, although the latter is my forté. Since I mostly do mobile shows on Weekends, I made my own "night out" on Thursday nights, and I took a liking to "Moetown Karaoke" in Lower Sackville, NS, and on occassion, I hosted shows for Maurice Aucoin (The Persuaders). Since I am presently working in Ottawa, returning to Halifax for my DJ Gigs, I was introduced to the Dog and Pony Sound following it from The Ugly Iguana to O'Briens (and places in between).

I claim full responsibility for getting Black Rum back to the bars,...ah.. Black Rum, the drink that creates singers. I am more of an Entertainer than a Singer, but when you think I sound good.. we are both getting tossed for being ripped.
